Terms of Use Agreement

This Agreement serves as a general agreement governing the rules of engagement between the user and the Canadian Institute for Middle East and Gulf Studies (CIMEGS) website (https://cimeg.ca/), and applies to all services provided by the CIMEGS website to the user.

Acceptance of the Agreement

The user is bound by all the terms contained in this Agreement to ensure the use of the service, and the continued use of the service constitutes the user’s implicit consent to the Terms of Use.

Intellectual Property Rights

The content, organization, design, compilation, translation, and all other materials related to the Institute are protected under copyright, trademark laws, and other prevailing intellectual property rights. The user may not copy, publish, distribute any materials published on the site attributed to the Institute without citing the source, nor may the material on this site be modified, transformed, or used to create new work or used for any purpose other than personal, non-commercial use. The Institute reserves all legal rights to prosecute those who violate this condition, in accordance with intellectual property laws.

Right of Use and Academic Quotation

Reviewing, printing, or downloading any content, drawing, or model from the Institute grants a limited and exclusive license for personal, fair use. The user commits, in the case of academic citation and/or use of any research materials and studies published on the site, to reference the source in accordance with accepted academic conventions.

Editing, Deletion, and Modification

The Institute reserves all rights to change, modify, cancel, or alter any part of the Institute’s services. The Institute has the right not to publish and/or delete any material, comment, or image that does not comply with the terms of this Agreement or does not fit the Institute’s policy. Furthermore, the Institute reserves the right to cancel registration (if any). The Institute retains all rights to cancel or suspend any right to use the service in case the user violates any term of the Terms of Use.

Non-transferability

The right to use the site services and any password to obtain information or documents is not transferable.

Acknowledgment of Responsibility

The user is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account information (if available), including the username and password, and is fully responsible for any use of the service conducted through their username and password, whether by themselves or by others.

Data Confidentiality

The Institute reserves the right to collect and use information about the user as filled in the registration form, for statistical purposes and service improvement.

Institute Services

The Institute or any person involved in preparing, producing, or distributing any material in the Institute shall not be liable for any direct or indirect, material or moral damage arising from the use of this site, or from the inability to use it, or from any error or omission, defect, inaccuracy in the information it provides, or from any delay or interruption in its transmission.

Republishing

A researcher who has submitted a paper to one of the Institute’s conferences, or has been published in one of the Institute’s journals, may not republish it without prior written permission from the Institute’s management. Upon approval, it is required to indicate that this research was presented to the Institute’s conference or to the concerned journal with the issue and date specified.

General Provisions

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction to hear disputes arising from them.
