The Canadian Institute for Middle East and Gulf Studies (CIMEGS) is pleased to announce that Prof. Jehad Algharam will undertake an official European outreach visit from 29 June to 24 July 2026. The visit will include a series of meetings and institutional engagements in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Albania.

This initiative forms part of CIMEGS’s continuing efforts to expand its international presence, strengthen its academic and research activities, and develop sustainable partnerships with European institutions. During the visit, Prof Algharam will meet with representatives of universities, faculties, research centres, academic organisations, specialists, and professionals whose work relates to the Middle East and Gulf regions.

The meetings will explore opportunities for cooperation in a range of areas, including joint research projects, academic exchanges, conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes, expert consultations, and collaborative publications. Particular attention will be given to building long-term institutional relationships that can support interdisciplinary studies addressing the economic, social, cultural, educational, and historical dimensions of the Middle East and Gulf regions.

The visit will also provide an important opportunity to introduce CIMEGS’s mission, programmes, research interests, and future priorities to European academic communities. Through these engagements, the Institute aims to establish new channels of communication between scholars, researchers, specialists, students, and academic institutions in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and the Gulf region.

Prof. Algharam’s programme reflects the Institute’s commitment to promoting academic dialogue, knowledge-sharing, international cooperation, and the exchange of expertise across borders. The meetings in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Albania are expected to contribute to the development of a wider network of academic and institutional partners and to identify practical areas for future collaboration.

CIMEGS considers international academic cooperation an essential element of its work and an important means of enhancing the quality, relevance, and impact of its research and educational activities. The Institute looks forward to sharing further updates on the meetings, partnerships, and initiatives resulting from this European visit.

This mission represents another significant step in CIMEGS’s efforts to serve as a bridge for academic cooperation and knowledge exchange between Canada and the international community.
