The Canadian Institute for Middle East and Gulf Studies is committed to making its website welcoming and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we support the goals of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

What we have done

  • The site is built with clear, semantic structure, so that it works with screen readers and other assistive technology.
  • You can move through the site with a keyboard, and a 'skip to main content' link is provided on every page.
  • Text and background colours are chosen for sufficient contrast, and the text resizes without breaking the layout.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
  • The site adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops, and it honours the system setting that reduces motion.

Known limitations

We improve the site continually. Some documents, or content embedded from other services, may not yet be fully accessible. Where you meet such a barrier, please tell us, and we will help you reach the information you need.

Tell us

If you have difficulty using any part of this site, or you have a suggestion to make it better, write to cimeg@cimeg.ca. Please describe the problem and the page where you met it, and we will respond as soon as we can.
