The Institute is governed by a Board of Directors that sets its strategic direction and safeguards its independence and not-for-profit character. Directors serve without remuneration, as required by the Institute's articles of incorporation.
Prof. Jehad (Joe) Algharam

Distinguished academic with over 18 years of combined experience in higher education, research leadership, and international scholarly collaboration. Holder of a Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations (recognized as equivalent to a Canadian Ph.D. by ICAS), with deep expertise in political communication, media ethics, public relations, and Middle Eastern and Gulf affairs. Currently leads the Canadian Institute for Middle Eastern and Gulf Studies (CIMEGS), overseeing strategic vision, peer-reviewed publications, and global partnerships. Trilingual (Arabic, English, French) with proven success in curriculum design, doctoral supervision, and conference leadership across Canada, Algeria, Tunisia, France, Jordan, Qatar, and Türkiye. Previously served for over a decade as Associate Professor of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Medea (Algeria), and as Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the UNESCO Chair for the Philosophical Foundations of Justice and Democratic Society at UQAM in Montreal.
