CIMEGS Publishing is the scholarly press of the Canadian Institute for Middle East and Gulf Studies. We publish academic books in English, and we give particular care to carrying Arabic scholarship to readers around the world.
Why we exist
Academic translation has long moved in a single direction, from English into Arabic. Our purpose is to help restore the balance. We translate books and original works written in Arabic into English, and we publish authors from the Middle East, the Gulf, and North Africa for an international readership.
What we publish
Our list spans the fields the Institute studies: economy, society, culture, technology, environment, heritage, the arts, and education. Every title is assessed by independent scholars before it is accepted.
How we work
The press is a program of the Institute, a not-for-profit corporation registered in Canada. The decision to accept a book rests on scholarly merit alone, and it is kept entirely apart from any payment.
