Each year the press funds the translation of a small number of distinguished scholarly books from Arabic into English. The grant covers professional translation and editing in full, so the author carries no cost.
Who may apply
Authors, rights holders, and publishers of Arabic scholarly books in the Institute's fields of study are welcome to apply. We give preference to original, well documented work of clear interest to an international readership.
What the grant covers
- Professional translation through a careful process: advanced translation followed by specialist human editing.
- A bilingual review of the final text for accuracy and fidelity.
- Editorial production, an open access edition, and a print edition.
How to apply
Send a short proposal that introduces the book, includes a representative sample, and explains its contribution. Please use the proposal form on this site. The editorial team reads every proposal and replies by email.
